Police in Kigezi sub region has registered 13 murder cases in the first 20 days of January this year.
On 20th January this year, a body of Living Aryatwijuka aged 40, catechist of Rubira church of uganda, a resident of Katookye cell, Kigata parish, Kyanamira sub county in Kabale district was found floating on River Rwabakazi.
On the 17th January this year, at Butogota central cell, Southern ward, Butogota Town council in Kanungu district, Kato Christine aged 30years, deceased was leaving town and going home, collapsed, hit down the face and died moments later.
On16th, a 20year old Wilber Ariho from Kashanda village Nyarushanje parish Rukungiri district was lynched by mob on allegation that had forcefully defiled a 16years old girl, a pupil at Nyabushenyi upper primary school.
On 16th Rubanda police arrested three suspects over death of a 30 year old Joseph Ampumuza, a resident of Nyakahita cell, Kakyenaga Parish Nyamweru Sub county Rubanda district, who is alleged to have been lynched by mob.
On 17th, Police in Kanungu registered a case of death of Buliga Alex aged 45years, a resident of Rushenyi village Nyakatunguru ward, Kihihi town council in Kanungu district.
On 15th, Police in Kabale registered death of Gideon Akanwasa 38 years old, a court bailiff attached to Rukungiri, and resident of Kanoni village Maziba sub county Kabale district.
On 9th, Police in Kanungu arrested a 33 years old Gideon Muganirwe for alleged murder of his 17years old daughter Precious Kyosimire from Kempazi village Kikongi parish Bwambara sub county Rukungiri district. On same day, Police in Rubanda registered a murder case the death of a 41years old Godon Asimwe who was allegedly assaulted by the wife, one Fortunate Kesande and died days later.
On 07th Police of Rukungiri arrested a 19 years old Generous Ainembabazi and hunting for Godfrey Twongyirwe allegedly for murdering their two weeks baby boy.
On 5th police in Kanungu discovered a body of Kakuru Constance aged 13years, a pupil at kashesha primary school, resident of Rukarara village Kihembo Sub County from a banana plantation and also registered a murder case by a mob of a 30eayrs old Joshua Turyasingura a resident of Rwenyerere cell Bihomborwa ward Kihihi town council.
On 02nd, police in Kabale district discovered a dead body of Twesigye Anthony aged 23 years, a causal laborer, resident of Kyaruhotora village, Burora parish, Nyarushanje Sub County, Rukungiri district from water.
On 1st, Rukiga police registered a murder case by mob of a 22yrs old Isaac Niwenshaba a resident of Kiruhira call Kashekye parish Kamwezi sub county.
The Kigezi police spokesperson Elly Maate has attributed murder cases to taking laws into own hands and poverty.
Maate is now asking people to solve issues amicably.
