MP Kwizera petition Kisoro CAO over murram excavation in Bukimbiri

By Mbabazi Kakogoso Vanansio

The Bukimbiri constituency Member of Parliament Hon: Eddy Kwizera Wa-Gahungu has petitioned the Kisoro Chief administrative officer over excavation of murram from Bukimbiri Sub County without following due process.

In a letter dated 12th January 2024, Kwizera says that murram is a bided commodity with a cost and price and land has to be restored, thus adding that necessary procedures and commitments must be considered before such activity is taken.

He noted that Bukimbiri, Nyundo and Nyanamo town council, will be having major road rehabilitations of Kanaba-Nyakalembe and Nyanamo-Nyundo-Kabahunde roads undertaken soon after rainy season and they will need to use the same murram.

He says that the place where they extract murram from is the site that was chosen again for the planned Tourism and Hotel institute where a sports ground will also be located.

The Chief administrative officer Badru Mayanja declined to comment on the matter despite reaching out to him on his official phone number.
