The Permanent Secretary of the Health Ministry, Dr. Diana Atwine, has cautioned Kisoro health workers against holding hotel-based workshops for capacity building.
Dr. Atwine made these remarks during her inspection of the Intensive Care Unit at Kisoro Hospital.
“We don’t want to hear this thing of capacity building in hotels. If you want to do capacity building here, be in a hospital. Come here and go to the (patient) wards,” Ms Atwine said
She stated that such workshops are a waste of time and resources.
Dr. Atwine while inspecting the progress of work at the Hospital’s ICU, noted that the hospital currently lacks an oxygen tank, which poses a significant challenge to medical workers attending to patients in critical condition.
The LC5 Chairperson of Kisoro District, Abel Bizimana, highlighted that the existing theatre at the facility is in poor condition. He urged the contractor to complete the work within the stipulated timeframe.
