Kisoro District Residents have Outlined Priorities ahead of President Museveni’s State of the Nation Address
Today, President Museveni is set to deliver the State of the Nation Address (SONA), updating the country on its economic, political, and social fronts, and summarizing the achievements of his government. This is in fulfillment of the constitutional requirement under Article 101(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda.
Most locals interviewed by Metropolitan FM highlighted fighting corruption and improving social services as priority areas needing urgent attention.
Bernard Byaruhanga, a lecturer at Metropolitan International University, hopes the President will address plans to enhance the salaries of arts teachers, improve agriculture, bolster the youth livelihood program, tackle economic issues, address the debt burden, and discuss the denial of political space for the opposition.
Nicholas Niwamanya, a student at Metropolitan University, wants the President to focus on combating corruption in local governments and outline plans to alleviate poverty.
Rogers Owomuhangi, also known as Easy Boy, from Rwebikonko village, Nyundo Parish, Nyundo Sub County, believes the President should address corruption and the misuse of government funds by Parliament, high youth unemployment, and the poor state of the healthcare system.
