The recent incident in Nshanjare Town Council, Rubanda District, where three individuals were killed, is currently under investigation by the local police.
The deceased have been identified as Silver Agaba (65), Bright Ainembabazi (27), and Edward Rwamahe, also known as Militant (32).
The events began on a Sunday night when Agaba left his home to go to Mengo Trading Center but did not return. His wife, Lydia Tindibakira, became worried and, along with their son Atuheire Marvin, began searching for him.
They eventually discovered Agaba’s body near Mengo Trading Center, where he had suffered multiple head wounds.
A red jumper found at the scene, suspected to belong to Ainembabazi, led Marvin to report the murder at Nshanjare Police Station. As a result, a murder case was filed, and Rubanda Central Police Station was informed.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson, confirmed the incident. Before the police could arrive, locals from Butabonana Cell, Mengo Cell, and Mashaho had lynched the two suspects, Ainembabazi and his friend Rwamahe.
Maate condemned the lynching, stressing the importance of involving local authorities and the police to handle such matters lawfully, rather than resorting to mob justice.
