Kabale Municipal commercial officer arrested for obtaining money by false pretence

Police in Kabale district have arrested Kabale municipality commercial officer, Federisi Akankwasa for allegedly obtaining money by false pretence and issuing a bouncing cheque worth 49 million shillings.
Akankwasa issued the cheque to Leo Mbabazi a resident of Kigongi B” cell, Central division Kabale municipality, in February this year.
It’s alleged that the suspect sold an estate in Kakoba division Mbarara city to Mbabazi in December last year at 550million shillings.
Mbabazi deposited 100million to his account, but eventually Akankwasa resold it to another person and told Mbabazi that he was no longer selling it.
The Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Maate, says that Akankwasa refunded 50,250,000 shillings remaining with a balance of 49million.
Maate adds that the case was reported on 13th March this year, but the suspect went into hiding until he was arrested yesterday from within Kabale town
