Mother, daughter killed in sand mine in Kabale

Two people have been confirmed dead after they were buried by soil in a mining quarry in Hamuganda village, Bukora parish Kitumba subcounty Kabale district.

The deceased are Rosette Mwikiriza aged 28 and her 10 year old daughter Berinah Abeneitwe all residents of Hamuganda village Bukora parish Kitumba sub county Kabale district.

Elly Maate the Kigezi police spokesperson says the incident happened at about 1:30pm while the two were in quarry mining sand and part of the soil curved in and covered them killing them instantly.

According to Maate, the two bodies have been recovered and handed over to the relatives for decent burial.
